DISTANT LEARNING ALL THE WAY due to COVID-19 Pandemic

The UNAI Global Hub of al-Farabi KazNU is one of the first among universities of Kazakhstan completely switched to remote form of studying due to the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown. Lectures, seminars and practice sessions at hundreds of thousands of university students are held online. For the purpose of acquaintance and check of the organization of distance learning in the conditions of a quarantine the university was visited the project manager “Sanaly urpaq” by Kayyrzhan Tokushev and the head of prevention and respectability of Department of the agency on anti-corruption on Almaty Elnar Igilikov.

Since March 16, 2020, KazNU has implemented remote educational technologies (DOT) in two information and educational systems – “Univer” (univer.kaznu.kz) and remote education “MOODLE” (dl.kaznu.kz). In the course of training, auxiliary digital services “ZOOM,” Microsoft Teams, “DL,” etc., are also used.

As the Vice-Rector of KazNU for Educational Work Askar Hikmetov cliamed that the developed IT-infrastructure of the university allows today to cover remote education of all students of 16 faculties. The distance learning process is overseen by three university structures. Thus, in the “Univer” system it is possible to track the activity of the educational process. The staff of the CSO monitor the schedule of each teacher and can check the classes in real time.

Today, mass events and meetings have been suspended on campus and in the KazNU students houses due to the state of emergency in the country. In all buildings and student dormitories there are information sheets and stands for the prevention of COVID-19 and dispensers with disinfectant are installed.
