COMSATS

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been the only member from the universities of the CIS since 2015 of the prestigious international intergovernmental organization “COMSATS” (Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South) and is also the Center of Excellence of COMSATS in Kazakhstan.

Membership in “COMSATS” enables KazNU to participate in international scientific and educational projects in areas such as information and communication technologies, nanotechnologies and new materials, renewable energy sources. Climate change and environmental protection, biotechnologies, etc.

Since 2015, being the only Center of Excellence of COMSATS in Kazakhstan and the CIS, scientists and students of our University have been participating in the implementation of joint scientific and innovation projects, undergoing internships in leading universities of COMSATS member states, presenting papers at conferences.

COMSATS activities are aimed at supporting and working towards the set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the UN. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has supported COMSATS activities in taking urgent measures to combat climate change and its consequences, as well as in the protection and restoration of ecosystems.
