University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization
The SCO University operates as a network of already existing universities in the SCO member states:
- Kazakhstan
- China
- Kyrgyzstan
- Russia
- Tajikistan
- Uzbekistan
and observer countries: India, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan.
Training of highly qualified personnel within the framework of the SCO University is carried out in priority areas of cultural, scientific, educational and economic cooperation of the participating countries
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was the first among universities of Kazakhstan which signed a Memorandum on Cooperation of higher educational institutions of the SCO countries and the Charter of University of SCO.
The purpose of participation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the activity of University of SCO is due to the need to implement the strategic tasks before Kazakhstani universities on the entering into a single global educational environment and enhancing the competitiveness of Kazakhstani higher education on an international standard.
